About This Project

Winnipeg Tow Mobile Plus is an app designed specifically for registered tow truck operators within the City of Winnipeg. It focuses on streamlining communication and record-keeping for towing operations. Here's a breakdown of its key functions:

Start and End Location Recording: When a tow truck operator begins a towing job, they can use the app to record the starting location of the towed vehicle. Similarly, upon reaching the destination, the app allows them to record the ending location.

Data Transmission: The app transmits the recorded start and end locations to the City of Winnipeg's 311 call center. This data transfer likely happens automatically upon submission in the app.

Improved Efficiency: By electronically recording locations, Winnipeg Tow Mobile Plus eliminates the need for manual reporting, saving time and effort for tow truck operators.

Enhanced Communication: The app facilitates communication between tow truck operators and the 311 call center by providing them with accurate location information for towed vehicles.

Citizen Benefit: By having access to tow location data, the 311 call center can better assist citizens in locating their towed vehicles, streamlining the process for everyone involved.

In essence, Winnipeg Tow Mobile Plus acts as a digital tool for tow truck operators to efficiently record towing locations and share that information with the City for improved communication and citizen service.

Technology Stack

Modern Technology

  • C#.Net Core

This project features a backend system built with C# and .NET Core, designed to power an Admin panel and support App APIs. The admin panel offers a dynamic interface for managing application data, with capabilities such as "search, filter, sort", and "CRUD operations" for entity management¹. The APIs provide a robust communication layer for client applications, enabling seamless interactions with the backend services. With a focus on "security" and "efficiency", the project utilizes "Entity Framework Core" for data access, ensuring smooth and secure database transactions. The integration of these components results in a comprehensive system that streamlines administrative tasks and facilitates the development of feature-rich applications.

  • SQL Server

Microsoft SQL Server as its primary database management system, providing a secure and reliable platform for storing, retrieving, and managing data. SQL Server’s advanced features, such as transaction processing, analytics operations, and business intelligence tools, are leveraged to ensure data integrity and performance1. The project’s database schema is carefully designed to support complex queries and large-scale data operations, with a focus on optimization and scalability2. By integrating SQL Server into the project’s architecture, we ensure a robust backend capable of handling the demands of modern applications.

  • Ionic (Angular)

This project employs the Ionic Framework with Angular to create a cross-platform mobile application. Ionic’s integration with Angular allows for one codebase that runs on the web, iOS, and Android, utilizing Ionic’s UI components for a seamless user experience across all platforms. The project is deployed as a native app using Capacitor, Ionic’s official app runtime, which enables the use of native device features. Angular’s powerful tools and Ionic’s rich component library come together to provide a robust environment for building dynamic, responsive, and visually appealing applications that feel native on every device.
